The commune of Bagni di Lucca is a collection of more than two dozen villages and hamlets. We are part of, but a little separate from, Bagni Caldi. As the name suggests, the area is known for its hot springs and spas. Within walking distance of the house, there are five spas, two of which are commercially run and ready, willing and able to pamper and restore you. The others are at differing stages of restoration. You passed the Bernabo spa coming up from the village and the restored but yet to be opened Bagno San Giovanni is at the bottom of our lane. Spend some time investigating the very informative http://www.bagnidiluccaterme.info for an extensive story of the area and its spas.
Below us is the river Lima and the village of Ponte A Serraglio.
Casa Lupini is an old farmhouse. On some old maps the area is called “Lupini” (lupins) so that is what we call it, although it is a little humble to have its own name and we have yet to find a lupin! Other maps call it "Rupini" ('steep slopes') which is more appropriate.
